The Student Home™ at 721 W Victoria Street, Santa Barbara, CA 93101 is centrally located in a safe residential neighborhood. The immediate area consists of large homes, small and elegant apartment buildings, and a town park.

The ELS Language Center, State Street’s main restaurant, entertainment and shopping area, neighborhood grocery stores and restaurants, and City College are all nearby. Students are able to reach all points of interest by foot, by bicycle, or by bus from the nearby bus stop.


Schools & Libraries


ELS Language Center: 1.2 kilometers, 7 blocks

The pedestrian bridge on W. Anapamu Street makes it a nice walk or bicycle ride to ELS. Or take the bus from the nearby bus stop to the Transit Center.

- Walking: 15-20 minutes

Santa Barbara Public Library: 1.3 kilometers, 8 blocks

The Santa Barbara Public Library issues free library cards and has free internet access. It is located only one block from the ELS Language Center. Opening hours are MON – THU 10am – 9pm; FRI – SAT 10am – 5:30pm; SUN 1pm – 5pm.

Santa Barbara City College: 1.9 kilometers

Santa Barbara City College is one of the most beautifully located colleges in the US. It overlooks the Pacific Ocean, beaches and harbor. Students enrolled at Santa Barbara City College through the ELS Campus Access Agreement have access to the pool, the fitness center, and all sports facilities.

Downtown


State Street: 1.3 kilometers, 8 blocks

State Street is the heart of Santa Barbara’s exciting downtown area. All restaurants, cafes, bars, shops, theaters and museums are in easy reach.

- Bicycle: 5 minutes
- Bus: 15 minutes
- Walking: 15 minutes

 

 

 

Beach (2.8 kilometers)


Santa Barbara’s beach offers a large variety of activities, including surfing, beach volleyball, and a skateboard park.
 

 

 

Grocery Stores  (0.4 kilometers, 2 blocks)


Students can do all their grocery shopping in the neighborhood: at Foodland Supermarket.  Click HERE for directions.

 

 

 

Restaurants (0.3 – 1.0 kilometers)


There are several restaurants within less than 0.3 kilometers: a bakery, a Mexican grill, a pizzeria and a burger restaurant. Not much further is a Mexican restaurant, a Chinese restaurant, a sushi restaurant and an American bar and grill.  Click HERE for our favorite restaurants.

 

 

 
Transportation


Bus
There is a bus stop only 1 block away. Bus transportation is FREE for all students enrolled at City College through the ELS Campus Access Agreement.

- Buses every 15 minutes
- Reach the Santa Barbara Transit Center (one block off State Street, 2 blocks from ELS Language Center at 104 W. Anapamu St) in 10 minutes
- Shuttle along State Street every 10-30 minutes

Bicycles
Bicycles are available for rent ($25 per 4-week session), allowing students to quickly and easily reach the ELS Language Center, the library, City College, downtown, restaurants, shops, and the beach.
